Dr. Mohite, Dr. Jean Christophe, Dr. Even, Dr. Kanatzidis, Dr. Ajayan, and Los Alamos National Lab, have published a new collaborative work on the producing highly efficient photoelectric effect in halide perovskites for regenerative electron sources.
The article reports efficient, regenerative, and low-cost electron sources based on solution-processed halide perovskites thin films when they are excited with light with energy equal to or above their bandgap. Halide perovskites used as electron sources report a quantum efficiency of up to 2.2% and a lifetime of more than 25 h. Even after degradation, the performance can be regenerated by deposition of a Cs monolayer. Compositional tunability of perovskites enables to obtain the electron emission across the entire visible and UV spectrum.
